“Voyage around St.Peterburg”
Voyage for those who want to see everything. In three hours, we'll see all of St. Petersburg: from the narrow canals of the center and the ceremonial Neva, to the Gulf of Finland, the former industrial outskirts, and elite modern districts. The most comprehensive route around the city.
This voyage is a combination of a route along rivers and canals and a route around the islands and suburbs of St. Petersburg. 3 hours of relaxed voyaging will show you the multi-layered nature and scale of the city. You'll be able to see all of St. Petersburg and take a boat ride with a guide along a well-thought-out, custom route.
We'll enter the Fontanka River, with its quaintly designed apartment buildings, the Fabergé Museum, and the Anichkov Palace. We'll move into the Kryukov Canal – a manually dug waterway from the Fontanka to the Moyka River. The canal is quite narrow, which creates a special kind of coziness. The bridges here are the lowest, by the way. So somewhere, you might even have to duck. This is what boat excursions in St. Petersburg are famous for. Here we'll pass through the Seven Bridges area, see St. Nicholas Cathedral and its beautiful bell tower, the Mariinsky Theatre, and at the exit to the Moyka River – New Holland and its iconic arch. Along the Moyka, we'll return to the very center of the city, passing the palaces of the nobility, such as the Yusupov and Stroganov Palaces. We'll go under the "colorful" bridges: Here is the Blue Bridge – a 97-meter-wide giant that looks like a long tunnel from the water, and the Red Bridge, next to which stands an elegantly decorated modern department store with a spire.
All this is just part of the voyage dedicated to the center. Soon we'll enter the Winter Canal, look at the Hermitage from the side, and pass under the Gallery that connects it to the Hermitage Theatre. Next, a boat ride along the Neva awaits us. Entering the Neva, we'll be amazed by its unexpected spaciousness compared to the Winter Canal. Here are the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Winter Palace, and the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island with the Stock Exchange and the Rostral Columns-lighthouses, and on both sides of us, the decorated bridges across the Neva.
From the center, we'll move toward the Gulf of Finland, pass along Vasilyevsky Island and see how this largest island in St. Petersburg transforms from a ceremonial historical corner into a huge residential area, so large that by the Gulf of Finland it's already being filled in to build new houses. We'll have a view of the Cable-stayed Bridge of the Western High-Speed Diameter, built right in the gulf. We'll pass under it, go around the modern football stadium completed for the World Cup, look at the Lakhta Center – Gazprom's skyscraper, and currently the tallest building in Europe. This is the new, modern St. Petersburg, and taking a boat ride through it is a special pleasure.
Next, we'll race across the gulf and reach the islands: Krestovsky, Yelagin, and Kamenny. Two of them are residential areas, and one is completely occupied by a park, where city residents rollerblade, sunbathe, sit on benches, and relax under the green canopies of trees. On Kamenny Island, mainly government residences, houses of the nouveau riche from the early 20th century are located, and some heavenly beings live there. On Krestovsky, there's also no more space, but it's a lively island, with a stadium, a large park for walks, the 'Divo Island' amusement park, expensive cars, and elite business-class residential complexes.
We'll sail at the foot of the TV tower and move towards the center along the Vyborg Side, which used to be occupied by various industrial enterprises. Now many of these enterprises have relocated, and little by little, this part of the city is being transformed into a more residential and well-maintained area. Here we'll pass Peter the Great's former Apothecary Garden, and moving along Petrograd Island, return to the center. Here we'll see the cruiser 'Aurora' – a symbol of the victory of the October Revolution, and then return to the starting point of our boat excursion in St. Petersburg.
This is our extensive route. What's most interesting is that throughout the journey, the views won't repeat. It's a rather large and very interesting journey, much more eventful than the usual boat ride along the Neva. We recommend taking it with our guide so that on the way you can not only relax, rest, and enjoy the views but also point to an object of interest and learn all about its history and background. St. Petersburg is a city with history. Learning about it and drawing parallels with modernity is a special pleasure!
Peter and Paul's fortress
The central building and the main building of St. Petersburg. It all started from here.
Summer garden
The first garden in St. Petersburg. Here Peter gathered all the nobility for the holidays-assemblies. The emperor decorated the park with Italian sculptures and fountains. His modest Summer Palace stands here.
St.Michael's castle
The only castle in St. Petersburg, and the one with a dark story about regicide. It was the residence of Paul I. Then it was turned into an engineering college.
Anichkov bridge
A bridge decorated with sculptures of horse tamers by Peter Klodt. It carries Nevsky Prospekt across Fontanka. And if you look closely, you can even arrange 4 sculptures in the chronological order of taming the horse :)
Trinity-Izmailovsky Cathedral
A gift from Nicholas I to his beloved Izmailovo regiment, in which he served and to which he owes his power. At the time of construction, it was the largest cathedral in the Russian Empire.
St.Nicholas' Cathedral
The cathedral, built under Elizabeth Petrovna to glorify the deeds of the Russian navy. It is marked by a beautiful 4-tiered bell tower with a clock.
New Holland
Former ship's timber warehouses, and now a modern public space. It still delights with its huge arch.
St.Isaac's Cathedral
The most impressive temple in St. Petersburg. The fourth largest dome in the world, covered with red gold. It shines in any weather.
Winter palace
The largest palace in the Empire, the Royal Palace and, at the same time, the Hermitage. Just to keep it in order, it required a staff of 800 people.
The Bronze Horseman
One of the symbols of St. Petersburg. The bronze Peter I on horseback, nicknamed the "Bronze Horseman" by Pushkin. It stands on a thousand-ton thunderstone. The tricks that had to be done to get the stone to the Senate Square are a topic for a separate story.
Academy of Fine Arts
One of the pillars of Russian culture. An academy that has produced a host of artists and creators. The embankment in front of it is decorated with two sculptures of three thousand-year-old stone sphinxes from the tomb of Amenhotep III.
Spit of Vasilievsky island
The business card of St. Petersburg. The Exchange building, framed by red lighthouse columns, marks the place where the Neva River splits into two arms and, skirting Vasilyevsky Island, flows into the Gulf of Finland.
Petrovskiy stadium
The legendary stadium built in 1925 on a separate island. The former home stadium of Zenit.
Bethankur bridge
The most recent bridge built in St. Petersburg across the Neva River. It is inseparable, and therefore quite high. It connects Vasilyevsky Island with Petrovskaya Spit and Petrogradskaya
Bridge over Peter's fairway
The bridge between Vasilyevsky Island and Krestovsky Island. Part of the Western High-speed Diameter, which allows you to get from the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland to the north of the city in a matter of minutes without traffic jams.
Gazprom Arena stadium
An epic stadium. Thanks to the contractors, it has become the most expensive in Russia and the 14th most expensive in the world. It delights the eyes of St. Petersburg residents and guests of the city.
Lahta centre
The tallest building in Europe and the headquarters of Gazprom, conveniently located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland (and is already open)!
Elagin island palace
The palace was built in 1822 by Carlo Rossi, commissioned by Emperor Alexander I for his mother. The first palace recreated after the siege in Leningrad.
Stone island palace
The Palace of Paul I was built in 1780. Here his son Alexander I and his associates discussed the abolition of serfdom, but nothing more.
TV tower
2 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower! Why don't you like Paris?) This operating TV tower with a height of 326 meters was, until recently, the tallest building in St. Petersburg, until the Lakhta Center was built.
Red Thread
A paper-spinning manufactory was opened here back in 1849 (!). Since then, the company has continued to operate according to its profile. A beautiful example of industrial architecture of the 19th century. And what turrets!
Cruiser "Aurora"
A cruiser that became a symbol of the victory of the Great October Revolution in 1917. One of the symbols of St. Petersburg.
